Fridges/Freezers
95% of the materials used to make fridges and freezers can be recycled
into new white goods.
Some charities and reuse projects accept
appliances that are still in working condition.
See FURNITURE and
See ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.
Repair when possible. For local contacts see the Yellow Pages or
W: www.yell.com.
Old fridges and freezers are accepted at Community Recycling Centres.
See COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTRES.
For fridges and freezers no longer in working order, contact your local council for the bulky uplift service (See Local Councils). There is likely to be a charge for this service.
When buying new appliances, look out for energy efficiency
information. A good rating (e.g. A) cuts down on electricity running costs.
