Foil

If you are unsure if something is made from foil try crunching it. If it does not crunch up, it is likely to be shiny plastic and cannot be recycled e.g. crisp packets.

Use sandwich boxes and washable containers instead of foil.

If you choose to use foil, wipe clean good pieces for reuse.

Edinburgh: Clean, used aluminium foil, ready meal trays etc. can be taken to the Packaging Recycling Points, or placed into blue kerbside boxes.

East Lothian: Take to Can Recycling Points or place into green kerbside boxes or red lidded kerbside bins.

Midlothian: Foil cannot be recycled at Can Recycling Points or via kerbside collections.

Scottish Borders: Place into your kerbside collection.

West Lothian: Place into your kerbside collection or Can Recycling Points.
