Cartridges

Think before you print! Reducing the amount you print will save the amount of ink you use, and therefore the number cartridges that you need.

Most toner and inkjet cartridges can be refilled at shops such as Cartridge Recycled.com, Cartridge World, Half Price Cartridges and Smart Cartridge.

For local contacts check the Yellow Pages or see W: www.yell.com under 'Computer Consumables'.

When buying a printer, choose one that uses cartridges that can easily be refilled.

Toner Cartridges

Over two million toner cartridges are thrown away every year in the UK. Most could be remanufactured or recycled, and could be used as fund-raising opportunities for charities.

Green Agenda will pay you or the charity of your choice for each suitable cartridge collected:

Inkjet cartridges

More than thirty million inkjet cartridges are dumped each year in the UK (the same weight as eighteen blue whales!). Many charity shops have collection facilities for used cartridges. Some of the contacts in the above section also recycle inkjet cartridges.

Out of the Blue Arts and Education Trust: This independent charitable Edinburgh arts organisation accepts used inkjet (and toner) cartridges for recycling. Cartridges accepted are HP, Canon, Lexmark and Dell. Epson are NOT accepted. Each time an item is donated, the charity will receive a cash donation that contributes to projects involving and benefiting local people. Drop your cartridges into the box in the cafe. Collection of larger quantities can be arranged. Mobile phones are also collected.
