Engine Oil

One litre of oil poured into drains can contaminate one million litres of water. Oil also reduces the efficiency of bacteria in the sewage system and destroys wildlife habitats.

Take used engine oil to Community Recycling Centres. See Community Recycling Centres. Some garages also take used oil.

It is illegal to dispose of engine oil down drains or directly into rivers and canals.
